Artist Statement - 

when i was younger, we’d go down to my grandparents house and eat dinner pretty often. my family is very close knit and i spent majority of my time growing up with them. my grandparents had a giant buckeye tree in their backyard, which was closely looked after by my cousins and i. after dinner we’d go check to see if the buckeye tree would give us nice, shiney brown buckeyes (often times we were impatient and would rip them open prematurely butttt that’s beside the point). buckeye trees have always been something i look for no matter where i was, but, to my surprise - every state i’ve visited or lived in, i’ve never found a buckeye tree. but here, in small town ohio. i still have the buckeyes i picked from that tree with my cousins years and years ago. and they’re still nice and shiney.
